Poker strategies: Loose and tight play
When playing poker, whether in a casino or on online gambling sites, there are also different types of play that a poker player should know about. There is such a thing as loose play and tight play. Poker players who play loose play a large percentage of hands. They start with relatively low requirements and then they continue in the pot with relatively weak hands. Tight players, on the other hand, only play a small percentage of hands. The starting requirements for these are high. Tight players are also quick to discard weak hands that do not develop into strong hands. There are players who love to play loose, while others prefer tight play. But if you want to become a better player, you should learn how to adjust your level of play depending on the game. Usually the size of the ante determines whether you will play loose or tight. The higher the ante, the looser you should play, and the lower the ante, the tighter you should play. There is more money in the pot with a higher ante. Of course, if there is more money in the pot, then you get better pot odds when you play hand, and usually these are hands that might not be worth pursuing if the ante had been small. Alternatively, if the ante is small, then there really is no point in gambling with marginal hands. This becomes extra important especially when you know that the other players are most likely to bet and call only with big hands.
